This chapter looks at the question of whether international relations, especially in an era of increasing globalization, are likely to be as violent in the future as they have been in the past.

International security , also called global security , is a term which refers to the measures taken by states and international organizations , such as the United Nations , European Union , and others, to ensure mutual survival and safety. These measures include military action and diplomatic agreements such as treaties and conventions. International and national security are invariably linked. International security is national security or state security in the global arena.

International and global security. Globalization has also facilitated the proliferation of weapons technolo- gies, including those associated with weapons of mass destruction, which remain a major potential source of international insecurity. This ambivalent effect of glo- balization, in turn, reinforces the sea rch for national security and unilateralism for some states, while al the same time encouraging other states to seek greater multilateral and global solutions as they are less able to provide security for their citizens. In the first part of the twenty-first century, therefore, despite important changes taking place in world pol it ics, the traditional ambiguity about international security remains. In some ways the world is a much safer place to live in as a result of Ihe end of the cold war and the removal of nuclear confrontation as a central element in East-West relations. These trends, however, are offset to a significant extent , as the continuing turmoil in the Middle East, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the subsequent 'war on terror; demonstrate.

The world we live in always seems to contain wars and conflicts. Just by looking back over years, history is filled with major wars like the two World Wars, the constant scare of escalation of threat during the Cold War and more recently The Afghan and Iraq War. Despite the fact that people always talk about the need for peace, the world is instead filled with fear and constant security threats. Since the First World War many theorists and political scientists have tried to come up with a solution on how to create a peaceful international environment but with no real achievement. This leads to a natural conclusion that there are certain obstacles that prevent cooperation between states. This essay will analyse the main difficulties to cooperation. In order to do that, it is necessary to look at some present theories that suggest they have the answer to why cooperation is so hard to accomplish.

 - Mucha joyeria.
