When the communication needs to be established over a distance, then the analog signals are sent through wire, using different techniques for effective transmission. The conventional methods of communication used analog signals for long distance communications, which suffer from many losses such as distortion, interference, and other losses including security breach.

Any type of data is transferred in analog signal. Any data is converted into electric form first and after that it is passed through communication channel. Analog communication uses a continuous signal which varies in amplitude, phase, or some other property with time in proportion to that of a variable. They digital signal consists of discrete values rather than continuous values.

Data transmission and data reception or, more broadly, data communication or digital communications is the transfer and reception of data a digital bitstream or a digitized analog signal [1] over a point-to-point or point-to-multipoint communication channel. Examples of such channels are copper wires , optical fibers , wireless communication channels, storage media and computer buses.
