Metal matrix composites MMCs are prepared by combining a metallic matrix with hard ceramic reinforcements. Usually, metals including aluminum, magnesium, cobalt, titanium, copper, and various alloys of these materials can be adopted as a matrix. The most widely used metal matrix materials for producing MMCs are aluminum and its alloys, because their ductility, formability, and low density can be combined with the stiffness and load-bearing capacity of the reinforcement [ 3 ].
